Folk, Bluegrass, Celtic and Traditional Music

Folk Club and Other Events

The Almeria Strings Folk Club was founded in the summer of 2010. Our Folk Night is held on the third Thursday of each month.

Most of our musicians play stringed instruments, but musicians who perform with other folk instruments (such as button accordion, Irish whistle, etc.) are very welcome! We will have our resident musicians playing, but we’ll also have guest spots available, so if you’re a folk musician or play Celtic, bluegrass, old-time any other more traditional form of music and would like to play, please let us know! We would like to have a variety of music from these traditions to both provide a place where it can be played and heard and to encourage others to learn and keep folk and traditional music alive here in Almeria.

In addition to our scheduled folk nights, we also meet for practice sessions (that include free fretted instrument instruction). Further details are to the right on this page. We also have at a number of benefit concerts in Almeria every year supporting local animal rescue or other charities (See our “Picking for Pets” page).

If you would like to be notified when we have events, please join our mailing list. We’ll never share your address with anyone, and normally only send two emails a month. You can also find us on Facebook. For further information please Contact Us

The Almeria Strings Folk Night
meets on the third Thursday of each month at the
Hostal Rural in Turre!

We meet in the room behind the pool and chiringuito (which is both heat and air-conditioning) during the warmer months and in the function room in the main building in winter. The Hostal Rural has parking, and serves both tapas as well as full meals. You can find a small map below or a larger map and directions HERE.

We hope that you'll join us!
